FCC rule changes - ATSC3.0 potential expanded

Jan 29, 2021

FCC rule changes released Jan.19, 2021 expands the permissible range of signal spillover from DTS, enabling ATSC3.0 signal and services to be delivered to an expanded number of viewers and devices.

A recent FCC ruling unleashes the power of a Single Frequency Network (SFN) topology to further expand the rollout of NextGen TV. The Distributed Transmission System (DTS) Report and Order allows for the expansion of permissible range of signal. New infrastructure will increase signal reception for a significant part of the population.

"It will enable providing higher and more uniform signal levels throughout stations’ service areas", says Merrill Weiss, DTS pioneer and owner of Merrill Weiss Group.
